What is Oktoberfest Zinzinnati?

Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati USA is an outdoor festival held in downtown Zinzinnati, Ohio that showcases the rich German heritage of Southwestern Ohio, as well as tasty samples of German-style music, food and beer. First held in 1976, the event has grown to be North America's largest Oktoberfest with over 500,000 people attending each year.

When do we eat? According to the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, grazing gourmets created the following Statistiken with their gluttonous consumption at a previous Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati. These Zahlen were gleaned from an extensive survey of Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati food vendors:

  • 80,500 bratwurst
  • 64,000 sauerkraut balls
  • 56,250 sausages
  • 24,640 potato pancakes
  • 23,004 soft pretzels
  • 20,000 cream puffs
  • 16,002 strudelOktoberfest Beer 
  • 6,000 jumbo pickles
  • 3,600 lbs. sauerkraut
  • 1,875 lbs. German potato salad
  • 702 lbs. Limburger cheese
  • 700 pigtails
  • 400 pickled pigs feet

But those aren't the only Nummern that count at Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati. Nearly 600 volunteers contribute their time and energy to stage the event. And Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati established a world record, as proclaimed by the Guinness Book of Records in its 1995-97 editions, with 48,000 participating in the World's Largest Chicken Dance in 1994.

Please note: Pets, (unless used for handicap assistance), bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, poles and sticks are prohibited in the event site during operating hours. No coolers, bottles, cans, alcoholic beverages or weapons can be brought into the event site.
